Launched on January 1st, 2004, TEXAS HEADS is the third website of its kind (along with Missouri Heads and Arizona Heads). The goal of these sites are to serve as an information discovery point for fans of improvisational music. We feel that by having a central place on the web that showcases both national and local acts as well as providing listing for venues, vendors, and other sites of this nature people will be more interested and excited to experience live music. Along with the websites, there are also discussion groups that serve to enhance our respective communities by providing a place to talk about our music scene and meet other people who share a love for this genre of music.
TexHeads.com is hosted by Prodigious Design and runs on a Linux server using Apache 1.3.22.
TexHeads.com was created (and is maintained) with Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash, Swish, Photoshop, and CuteFTP. Testing is done in IE 6.0 and Mozilla 1.0 on Windows XP at 1280 x 1024 pixels.
Interactivity at TexHeads.com comes from the implementation of several scripts based in CGI/Perl, PHP/mySQL, and JavaScript.
